Have you ever happened on a music performance and been so impressed that you bought a CD, only to get home, pop it in, and find the studio recording lacked the excitement or special je ne sai quoi that piqued your interest in the first place?
Well, that’s happened to me too often, which is why about a year ago I started playing with the idea of making music a performance again. Along the way, I realized that it was a shame these fantastic concerts by unknown bands in tiny little 30 person spaces couldn’t be shared across the world — and across decades too, really. Why should such great stuff disappear, never to be heard again?
So, that’s what Standing Room is at its core. A mission statement, I suppose. We’re going to do everything humanly and computer-ly possible to make it easier for music lovers to get music, and for music makers to give music.
But that’s only the first step. What about theater and dance? Comedy? Anything that can be performed and that can be recorded. We’ve got our eyes on you.
